Yes, the weather in Vancouver was beautiful again. Sunscreen was the order of the day is you spent any time in the sunshine. The temperature creeped close to 15 degrees. I worked a later shift today, so I decided to wait in line from 8 AM until noon for one of those life changing moments... yes, I flew through the air on the zip line, 8 stories above Robson Square - And that was before noon today.
I was meeting and greeting Members of the International Olympic Committee as well as many athletes who are between events and enjoying an incredible stroll through the busy streets of downtown Vancouver. Since I am wearing the smurf blue volunteer uniform everyone stops to talk, ask for directions or just to say that we are all doing a great job! A highlight today was when Dick Pound, one of Canada's three IOC members. He was very personable and, again, thanked me from coming form Ontario to work the Olympics. Other notable people I greeted today were:
Prince Rainier of Monoco, Juan Antonio Samaranch of Spain, and Former King Constantine of Greece.
All of this is very tiring - my feet are sore and my face hurts from smiling.... but I look forward to tomorrow!
My insider at the hockey venue is also having a great time and gives you a birds eye view of the start of the Swiss - Canada hockey game that had us all on the edge of our seats.
More tomorrow!
