Saturday was Women's Hockey night at UBC's Thunderbird Arena, where Russia came out on top of Slovakia by a 4 - 2 score. I met a very friendly volunteer at the hockey game - note the picture!A day off from volunteering today, Sunday, gave me an opportunity to visit the Olympic Flame and enjoy an incredibly beautiful day seeing some sights - such as the magnificent snow-capped mountains surrounding English Bay and Stanley Park. Throngs of people were in and around BC Place and Canada Hockey Place today as Russia strong armed the Cechs 4 - 2 . OK so our Men's Hockey team has its work cut out for them. To quote an old movie title " Damn Yankees!" I finished the afternoon on Granville island where the masses were basking in sun. Yes, flowers and plants are blooming in Vancouver.
